Adapted Paintbrush Build: The Role of Empathy in Design Thinking
Grade 2 students learned about equality and children’s access to recreational activities in second grade, and they created prototype concepts for an adapted paintbrush.
As a part of their learning on equitable access, students explored the role of using empathy in their design thinking process. After class discussions and valuable feedback and input, students gained a greater understanding of the different challenges that people may have when using a conventionally built paintbrush.
