Sharing Our Stories at Trafalgar Lodge
Gr.2 students went to Trafalgar Lodge as part of their ‘Sharing Our Stories’ unit to learn about our community seniors who live there and about their lives.
Students had a chance to interview the residents and learn many interesting things about their own personal journeys and stories. Our Gr.2 students shared, “We learned that some of them were born in other countries and that some of them knew people in WWII. We even met a man named Homer who disassembled bombs in the war to keep people safe. One of the ladies said that there was even segregation going on when she was alive.”
Students remarked that their favourite part of the trip was feeling like their visit made a difference to the senior community of Trafalgar Lodge. Students said, “We think it’s important that we visited today because we made people smile and it feels good to make others smile.”
