Transdisciplinary Learning at MacLachlan Commons

Grade 6 classes worked on a really cool project in the maker space in the MacLachlan Commons. Students first conducted research on a significant citizen and then gave a monologue showcasing their accomplishments. Next, they conceptualized how they might design an interactive monument or installation.

Students started making models of the spaces and places they planned after evaluating how they might represent the achievements and notable traits of their notable citizens.

Students were challenged to consider how design elements might symbolize their citizens and also attract new visitors to learn more in this transdisciplinary project that blends innovation, art, and their unit of inquiry.
