Travelling Back in Time to Confederation-Era Toronto

Our Grade 8 students discovered daily life in Confederation-era Toronto while exploring the home and recreated printshop of Toronto’s famous printer, William Lyon Mackenzie. Exploring the roles and routines of everyday life in an urban home through artifact-based activities, learning about the challenges of becoming a printer, and typesetting and even printing a souvenir copy of an 1860 newspaper!
