Our Grade 1 students had a wonderful day of creativity and exploration during their experiential learning trip to Harbourfront Centre in Toronto! This visit was a fantastic extension of their Visual Arts unit, which focuses on self-portrait drawing, emotions, and colours.
During the trip, the students delved into the fascinating traditions of mask making from around the world. They learned how masks serve as powerful tools for storytelling, cultural expression, and emotion.
The highlight of the day was the opportunity to create their own clay masks using hand-building techniques. From molding clay to adding intricate details, the students’ imaginations came to life in vibrant, three-dimensional form.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
