Empowered Voices: Alumni Leading the Way

For nearly 45 years, MacLachlan College has been more than just a school; it has been the heart and soul of the Hadfield family. Founded by Colin and Audrey Hadfield, it has nurtured and educated countless students, including the Director Mark Hadfield’s three children, who thrived here over the span of 20 years.

He says, “I am honored and joyful to be seeing MacLachlan College through it’s next evolution and growth, continuing the legacy my parents started. I am incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful leadership team by my side, whose dedication and passion for education at MAC inspire me daily.

I am eager to embrace this new chapter with the same spirit of innovation and collaboration that has guided me throughout my career. Together with the MacLachlan community, I look forward to building on our strong foundation, fostering a nurturing environment for our students, and making MacLachlan College’s two campuses a place where everyone feels like they belong. This is more than a leadership transition; it’s a renewal of our commitment to the values that have defined MacLachlan College for nearly half a century."

The Importance of Autonomy

Over the past year, we have actively listened to the feedback and voices of our alumni, who expressed a desire for more autonomy within our network. We understand that when alumni are empowered to lead initiatives and create meaningful change, they bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the table.

The concept of autonomy in alumni involvement is essential. By allowing alumni to pursue projects and initiatives that resonate with their personal experiences and professional expertise, we foster a sense of ownership and responsibility. This empowerment not only enriches the alumni experience but also enhances the school's ability to innovate and grow. Supporting autonomous alumni involvement nurtures a culture of leadership and initiative that extends far beyond the classroom.

As we move forward, we are committed to providing more opportunities for alumni to take the lead. Whether it's through spearheading new projects, participating in mentorship programs, or engaging in community events, we believe that autonomous alumni involvement is key to our continued success.

Mark Hadfield’s Vision

As a progressive leader and a parent to three students who are alumni of the school, he is committed to nurturing the legacy that lives within MacLachlan while ensuring the school grows alongside the vibrant community of Oakville. His plans for the upcoming school year focus on embracing innovation, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and strengthening the connection between the school and its alumni. The school is also excited to introduce its new Upper School Campus, providing Grade 7-12 students with a place to call their own. The community is excited for past, present, and future change-makers to check out the new space and be part of this transformative journey.
