Athletics

Athletics at MAC

At MacLachlan College, we believe athletics are essential for fostering teamwork, leadership, and resilience. Beginning in Pre-Kindergarten, our Physical Education Program inspires students to enhance their abilities, push their limits, and achieve personal and team goals.
Our goal is to provide every student with quality athletic experiences through innovative programming, quality coaching, and training facilities. We strive to instill a lifelong commitment to physical activity and healthy living. These programs highlight essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and empathy, shaping character and values that extend beyond the field.

Athletics in the Lower School

As a founding member of the Private School Athletic Association (PSAA), students in Grades 3-6 have the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and track and field. These activities not only foster school spirit and pride but also encourage teamwork, resilience, and a love for physical activity.

Our athletics program is designed to build fundamental skills that align with the International Baccalaureate (IB) units of inquiry, helping students connect their learning on and off the field. These experiences prepare them for a seamless transition to the Upper School, where they can further develop their athletic and academic potential and build a foundation for future success.

Athletics in the Upper School

As our Upper School students transition into Grade 7, they continue their athletic journey by exploring recreational opportunities such as student-staff sports, extending their involvement in the Private School Athletics Association (PSAA) through Grade 8, participating in a diverse range of sports through the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA), or advancing their skills and aspirations through our High-Performance Athletics (HPA).

The Halton Secondary School Athletic Association

The Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA) offers students the chance to compete locally within Halton, with opportunities for those who qualify to advance to the provincial stage through OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations).

With a diverse range of sports, including ultimate frisbee, soccer, track and field, and cross-country, the program builds on the foundational skills students develop in the Lower School PSAA program.

Go Further With High Performance Athletics

This program is designed to support student-athletes striving for excellence both in academics and athletics. Tailored to their unique needs, the program provides the guidance, resources, and expert training required to prepare students for opportunities in NCAA athletics, professional careers, and even the Olympics.
