Meet the passionate coaches and staff who lead MacLachlan’s athletic programs. Our team is committed to providing expert guidance, mentorship, and support to help each student reach their full potential. From experienced coaches in varsity sports to our dedicated athletics director, each team member brings a wealth of knowledge and a shared vision of fostering athletic excellence.   • Lou Cafazzo

    Director of Athletics
Lou Cafazzo is a seasoned professional with a distinguished career in athletics and education. He played nine seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Calgary Stampeders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, including a Grey Cup victory in 1992. Transitioning to coaching, Lou contributed to McMaster University's football program, assisting in securing four consecutive Yates Cup championships. Most recently, Lou has served as the Director of Athletics at Appleby College for the past ten years, developing and expanding cocurricular programs while building a strong sense of community among students, faculty, parents, and alumni.

  • Michael Vanstone

    Director of Health & Physical Education | PSAA/ HSSAA Athletic Coordinator 
With over a decade of experience in sports programming and coaching, Michael Vanstone is passionate about fostering athletic excellence and community engagement. During his 10 years with the YMCA of Oakville Summer Camps, he developed comprehensive sports curricula, coordinated multi-location programs, and mentored staff to deliver top-quality experiences. As an elite soccer player, Michael captained the Oakville Soccer Club’s 96A team in the Elite and OYSL divisions, reaching the Ontario Cup quarterfinals and playing for OSC’s CSL team at just 16.
His coaching portfolio spans nearly every sport in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PSAA) across all age groups, including a PSAA U14 open soccer championship win in 2024 and multiple finals appearances in Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, and Flag Football. Michael also led high school soccer teams in the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA) to several playoff appearances.

A Brock University graduate, Michael now serves as MacLachlan’s Athletic Director and Head of the Physical Education Department.

  • Dave Chevrier

    Director of Hockey Operations
Coach Chevy brings many years of Prep/U18 experience to the MacLachlan Mariners hockey program. Having coached with the Halton Hurricanes and Toronto Marlboro minor hockey organizations, and developing players with the Screaming Eagles Spring and Summer programs, he forged great and far reaching relationships and helped many families on their hockey journey. He brings over 20 years of hands on coaching and advising experience and has helped lay the foundation for many successful hockey teams. He founded the Screaming Eagles in order to ensure aspiring student athletes had the opportunity to be informed and aware of great athletic and academic opportunities.  Currently Coach Chevy is the Ontario and New England Scout for the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL and has enjoyed winning all along the way.

  • Bryce O’Hagan

    Director of Hockey Development | Assistant Coach U18 Prep Hockey 
Bryce O’Hagan, founder of O’Hagan Goaltending, is a dedicated and accomplished leader in hockey development. With over seven years of experience as Head Goalie Development Coach for the Burlington Eagles and Barracudas, he oversees training for over 50 rep teams, helping athletes achieve their full potential. Bryce’s expertise extends to coordinating Powerplay for Camp, supporting NHL goalie coaches, and managing operations for elite training camps.

A decorated athlete himself, Bryce has won gold medals with Team Canada U18 and Team Ontario U17, played over 100 OHL games, and earned USports All-Canadian honours.

  • Jess Turi

    Head Coach, U16 Co-ed & U22 Girls Hockey Development Programs | Sports Guidance Counsellor
Jess brings a wealth of experience at many different levels of hockey over her eighteen-year coaching career thus far. Jess was the Head Coach with Team Ontario at three U18 National Championships, winning two gold medals and one silver. Jess was a Head Coach in the U22 Elite league with the OWHA for eight years with both the Etobicoke Junior Dolphins and Mississauga Hurricanes, winning Coach of the Year in the 2015 season. Following which she joined the University of Toronto Women’s Team as an Assistant Coach and Head Scout, the team captured the McCaw Cup OUA title in 2020. Jess then accepted a position with The Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation, a professional women’s league in North America, as an Assistant Coach. Jess helped lead the team to their first ever Isobel Cup Championship in 2023. Currently Jess is an Assistant Coach with both the Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams at York University in the OUA.  

Jess was a varsity student-athlete at York University where she captained the team for four seasons and went on to become a High School Phys. Ed teacher in Mississauga for the past fifteen years.
