Each year, MacLachlan College accepts a select number of international students from all over the world. MacLachlan's private school education is the preferred choice among international students due to its outstanding recognition for academic excellence. The school not only provides small class sizes but also offers various co-curricular prospects and additional benefits.

MacLachlan College’s fees include the following: technology fee, all textbooks and most field trip costs. Some field trips may be the exception, as well as overnight trips. There is an additional fee of $3,000 for the School Bus Service and $550 for Health Insurance.
Applications are welcome throughout the year; however, we encourage families to begin the application process well in advance of the school year they hope to enroll in.

ESL
MacLachlan offers an Integrated ESL Program in our Lower School for students in Grade 1 - Grade 6 and occurs within the school year. The ESL program provides opportunities for students to develop proficiency in English in the four basic language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Students entering Grades 7–12 must demonstrate sufficient English-language proficiency to participate successfully in MacLachlan College's regular academic program. Dedicated ESL programming is not offered at these grade levels.
Students entering Grades 7–9 are expected to demonstrate age-appropriate proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Applicants will be required to provide results from a recognized English-language proficiency assessment, such as the TOEFL Junior, as part of the admissions process.
Students entering Grades 10–12 are expected to demonstrate a higher level of academic English. As a guideline, students should achieve an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 6.0, or an equivalent result on a recognized English-language assessment.
English-language proficiency will be considered alongside the student's academic history and overall readiness for the Ontario curriculum.
Homestay
MacLachlan College retains the services of International Student Guardianship Canada (ISGC) to provide homestay services for international students who want to live with a Canadian family. Homestay families are carefully screened and take a personal interest in the students who are in their care. They participate in the program because they value global awareness, cultural diversity, leadership, education, family and community. We put great emphasis in connecting our international students with the right host families to ensure a comfortable transition to their new environment. We understand that a positive and supportive homestay experience greatly influences student success. Students are treated as an extended member of the family. This gives the student the opportunity to further develop their English language skills and learn about the Canadian culture. It is not uncommon that the bonds made between students and host families endure for many years and lifelong friendships are made.
Homestays are governed by clear rules and curfews that are monitored by the school and ISGC. Homestay parents will act on behalf of the international student's family to care for his or her general welfare including meals, health and safety. Although we try to place international students near the school, transportation to and from the school is the responsibility of the student; school bus service or public transport is readily available.
The Town of Oakville is a safe and thriving family-oriented community located on the shores of Lake Ontario. With a mid-sized population of approximately 200,000, it offers an abundance of community recreation facilities, parks, trails, shopping, entertainment and restaurants.

New International Students
- A non-refundable $300 CAD application fee must accompany each application for admission.
- It is recommended that students supply either TOEFL or IELTS language results as part of the supplementary documentation with the application.
- The one-time, non-refundable New Student Enrollment fee of $3,000 is payable when the offer of admission is accepted.
- Fees received are used for capital purposes at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Tuition is due in full upon acceptance.

Returning International Students
- To confirm a place for September 2023, 50% of the total tuition is due with the re-registration forms on January 20, 2023. The remaining balance is due July 1, 2023.

Important Notes
- Admission is based on review of report cards, reference reports and interview with MacLachlan’s Director of International Studies. If a personal interview is not possible, a virtual interview will be scheduled.
- It is highly recommended that students supply either Junior TOEFL or IELTS results as part of the supplementary documentation with the application.
- If vacancies cannot be confirmed at the time of the application, the student’s name will be placed on the wait list. The school will notify the student when space is available, and fees must be paid in full at that time to reserve the space. Current MacLachlan students re-register by January 20th. Vacancies will be assigned from the waiting list.
- The application should be made to the school well in advance of your desired entry date. A non-refundable application fee of $300.00 for International students must accompany each application.
- Students participating in MacLachlan College’s Homestay Program must obtain guardianship services through International Student Guardianship Canada (ISGC). Please request the International Student and Guardianship Package for more details.
- Health insurance costs are subject to change and is required unless proof of insurance is provided.
- School Bus Service charge is an approximate cost and is based on scheduled route.
