The International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition (IISPSC) is about more than just rankings—it's about the friendships formed, the breakthroughs made, and the growth that happens along the way. This year in Bermuda, our MacLachlan students embraced it all.
MacLachlan College placed 15th out of 35 schools, outperforming major competitors like St. Andrew's College, The Bishop Strachan School, and University of Toronto Schools.
Tessa: 26th out of 108 individual speakers.
Amanda: 3rd in Parliamentary Debate.
Tara: Honourable Mentions in both Parliamentary Debate and Impromptu Speaking.
Some of the top US prep schools were here, including The Hotchkiss School, Deerfield Academy, and Roxbury Latin (the oldest high school in the USA).
Canada shone brightly at this year's event, with 3 of the 5 events at the 2024 World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships being won by Canadians—testament to the incredible talent nurtured at home.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
