Sprint Into Spring Opportunities & Connections

By: Rachel O'hagan, Alumni Relations Manager

April is all about fresh starts and new beginnings. As nature begins to bloom, it’s a perfect time for us to reflect on how we, too, can embrace growth and change. At MacLachlan, we’re excited to offer opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the community and get involved, whether through events, volunteering, or supporting new initiatives.

This month, we’re also highlighting the MacLachlan Summer Camps—a great chance for alumni to share the MacLachlan experience with the next generation by sending their children to a camp that promotes the same values of community and growth.
MacLachlan Summer Camps: A New Opportunity for Alumni Families
MacLachlan Summer Camps are happening at both campuses this year! It’s a great way for alumni to let their kids experience the same environment they loved. With camps and programs in sports, arts, and academics, the camps are designed to help kids grow, learn, and have fun in a supportive, welcoming space.

Open Doors: Come Back to MAC
We’d love to welcome alumni back to MacLachlan on April 10th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM for our Open Doors event.

Come see the newly updated Upper School, check out student projects, and take a look at how the space has evolved since your time here. It’s a great way to reconnect with the school, and staff and see what’s new!

Tae Lee: Alumni Spotlight
This month, we’re excited to spotlight Tae Lee, a 2009 graduate whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. Tae’s story is one of resilience, determination, and the importance of embracing change and community.

When Tae first arrived at MacLachlan, he didn’t speak English and was far from his family. The challenges were significant, but Tae’s willingness to step out of his comfort zone allowed him to flourish. He immersed himself in the language, culture, and school activities, and before long, MacLachlan became his home away from home.

Today, Tae is an airline pilot with United Airlines Express, soon joining United Airlines, and his story is a powerful example of how embracing change can lead to personal growth and success. But what makes Tae stand out isn’t just his professional accomplishments—it’s his dedication to supporting others.
Tae’s advice to current students and alumni alike is simple yet profound: “Stay connected.” He reflects on how the relationships built at MacLachlan have been a source of support throughout his life and career. “The world is big, and not as nurturing as it is here,” he says. “It’s always amazing to come back and feel this environment. Although I’m an alumnus, I always feel deeply connected.”

Get Involved: Volunteer at the MAC Fun Fair
The MAC Fun Fair is back on May 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Upper School. This beloved biennial event is a wonderful way for alumni to reconnect with the community, and we’d love for you to join us!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with everything from game supervision to raffle tables. If you’re interested in volunteering or sponsoring a ride, game, or raffle prize, please email pa@maclachlan.ca for more details.

And if you can’t volunteer or sponsor, don’t worry—please still join us with your families to enjoy a day filled with fun, games, delicious food, and great raffle prizes. Your presence and support help make the day even more special. Mark your calendars and bring your family out for a day of community spirit!

April kicks off a season of exciting events and ways to stay connected with MacLachlan. Whether it’s through volunteering, attending events, or supporting new initiatives, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference. We’re excited to see all the amazing things our alumni continue to do!
